Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to create an account to run a search?
You can run basic searches without an account. However, creating an account unlocks additional benefits:
- We can save your previous searches, making it easier to revisit or re-run them later.
- If an unexpected error occurs during a search, we'll be able to credit your account automatically—no need to contact support.
- You also gain access to saved reports, alerts, and future features like monitoring or facial match history.
What is PhantomTrace and how does it work?
Safety Search is an AI-powered facial recognition tool that identifies people from a single image and generates detailed background reports using public records, online data, and social profiles.
What can I find out about someone using PhantomTrace?
You may uncover full names, social media profiles, dating activity, criminal records, warrant history, address history, and more.
Will the person I search for be notified?
Absolutely not. All searches are private and untraceable.
Is the information you provide verified?
Yes — every report we generate is built using data from verified, publicly available sources, including government records, court databases, and real-time social media analysis.
Our system cross-references multiple sources using AI to filter out false matches, remove duplicates, and prioritize the most accurate results. While no system is perfect, we focus on delivering the most reliable, context-rich identity insights available from non-invasive public sources.
How secure is your platform?
Security is our highest priority. PhantomTrace uses AES-256 encryption, secure SSL certificates, and end-to-end data protection protocols to ensure all user activity remains private and safe.
Our infrastructure is built using zero-trust architecture principles. Whether you're uploading a photo or reviewing a report, your data is protected by the same security standards used by top financial institutions.
Do you share user data with third parties?
Never. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or search activity with anyone. Your use of PhantomTrace remains entirely confidential. Even internally, access to user data is strictly limited and monitored.
We believe privacy is a right—not a feature—and we’ve built our system to function without ever needing to compromise your identity or intent.
Is it legal to search someone using their photo?
Yes, as long as the search is for personal safety, verification, or informational purposes using publicly available data.
Can PhantomTrace be used for employment or tenant screening?
PhantomTrace is not currently FCRA-compliant and should not be used for official background checks that impact employment decisions, housing applications, or credit approvals.
However, it can be used informally to help you make better personal or business judgments — such as checking if an employee is behaving inappropriately or damaging your brand on social media, or identifying whether a potential tenant shows signs of irresponsibility, like public posts indicating reckless behavior. It can also help monitor current tenants for problematic activity, such as throwing disruptive parties or causing property damage.
While not a legal screening tool, PhantomTrace is a powerful early-warning system to help protect your property, workplace, and peace of mind.
What happens if the person searched has no online presence?
If no digital or real-world data is found, the system will inform you and the process will end without charge for the Deep Dive.
What if the person searched uses fake names or aliases?
Our AI uses facial recognition to match across platforms, helping uncover hidden profiles even if the name is different.
