Frequently Asked Questions
What is PhantomTrace and how does it work?
PhantomTrace is an advanced AI-powered identity analysis platform that uses facial recognition to search across publicly accessible data scattered throughout the web and open databases. This includes social platforms, public records, and other open-source intelligence that would otherwise be difficult or time-consuming to locate manually.
By intelligently aggregating and analyzing this fragmented data, PhantomTrace transforms disconnected public information into a single, clear identity overview—helping you quickly understand who you may be interacting with and assess potential risk or credibility.
What can I find out about someone using PhantomTrace?
Using advanced facial matching and data correlation, PhantomTrace can uncover a wide range of publicly available information, including full names or known aliases, social media profiles, online behavior patterns, public court records, warrant listings (where accessible), address history, and other digital footprint indicators.
PhantomTrace goes beyond simple lookups by connecting data points across multiple sources, revealing insights that are often hidden in plain sight. Results vary depending on the individual’s public presence and available records.
Do I need to create an account to run a search?
Yes. Creating an account is required to run searches on PhantomTrace.
An account allows us to securely save your search progress in case of interruptions and ensures your results are not lost due to system errors or connectivity issues. It also enables you to:
- View and manage your past searches
- Resume interrupted searches without starting over
- Receive faster and more accurate support if needed
This helps us provide a more reliable and secure experience.
Will the person I search for be notified?
No. PhantomTrace does not notify individuals when they are searched. All searches are conducted privately using publicly accessible data.
Is the information you provide verified?
PhantomTrace pulls data from publicly available sources, including government records, court databases, and open online platforms.
Our system cross-references multiple sources to reduce duplicates and false matches, but we do not guarantee accuracy or completeness. Public information can sometimes be outdated or incorrect, and reports should be used for informational purposes only.
How secure is your platform?
Security is a top priority. PhantomTrace uses industry-standard encryption, secure data transmission (SSL), and modern access controls to protect user activity and uploaded content.
Our systems are designed to minimize unnecessary data retention and restrict internal access to authorized personnel only.
Do you share user data with third parties?
Never. PhantomTrace does not sell, rent, or share your personal data or search activity with third parties.
Access to user information is strictly limited to essential internal operations and support, and it is monitored to protect confidentiality.
Is it legal to search someone using their photo?
In many jurisdictions, searching using publicly available images and data is legal when used for informational or personal safety purposes. However, laws vary by location, and it is the user’s responsibility to ensure their use complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
Can PhantomTrace be used for employment or tenant screening?
PhantomTrace is not FCRA-compliant and must not be used for employment decisions, tenant screening, credit approvals, insurance eligibility, or any official background checks.
However, PhantomTrace can still be used informally to help you make better personal or business judgments — such as identifying harmful public behavior, spotting red flags online, or verifying whether someone may pose a risk to your property, business, or personal safety.
PhantomTrace is intended as an informational tool and early-warning system — not a legal screening service.
What happens if the person searched has no online presence?
If PhantomTrace cannot locate meaningful public information associated with the submitted image, you will be notified and the search will conclude.
Initial (Level 1) searches are non-refundable, regardless of results. However, Secondary (Level 2) searches are only charged if usable results are found.
If the Secondary Search does not return any additional results beyond those provided in the Initial Search, you will be refunded the difference between the Initial Search and Secondary Search prices.
What if the person searched uses fake names or aliases?
PhantomTrace focuses on facial similarity rather than names alone. This helps uncover potential matches across platforms even when usernames or identities differ — as long as the images are publicly available.
